KIDSEYE SUMMER FILMMAKING CAMP
Now in its fifth year, KidsEye is a user-friendly introduction
to the nuts and bolts of filmmaking geared for kids, ages 9-15. Daily
sessions take place over a five-day period that includes a shoot out
and a chance to learn the essentials of editing. Enrollment is capped
for maximum personal interaction with staff and guest instructors. Ends
with a trip to the capitol city of Providence for a shoot out and a
special guest appearance by staff from the Nickelodeon Channel in NYC.

Part of the Annual Black Ships Festival
A celebration of the best films from the land of the Rising Sun. Premieres
and classics presented for discovery and inspiration. Curated by James

FILM FESTIVAL GALA PRESENTATION
Salute to the Art of the Short Film
Since RIIFF is the only New England Festival that serves as a qualifier
for the Short Film Academy Award, it seemed appropriate to open this
years Festival with a showcase of some of the best examples of
world shorts. Join us for the United States premieres of Kenneth Branaghs Listening, the Walt Disney Feature Animation Divisions Destino from France, Autopsy Room Four from the USA, Colorforms from USA, The Cook from Australia and Flying from Japan.
Our opening night is a partial fund-raiser for the Patricia Neal Scholarship
Fund. For 2003, we will present our screenings in both 35mm film and
High Definition digital formats.

With an eye on diversity and provoking dialogue, RIIFF has created a
distinctive cinema focus that addresses gay and lesbian concerns. The
sidebar features over a dozen select film screenings and meet the director
opportunities.
THE PROVIDENCE JEWISH FILM FESTIVAL
Curated by Sharon Rivo of the National Center for Jewish Film at Brandeis
University. Given the epoch in which we live in, RIIFF felt it appropriate
to honor and celebrate the artistry and imagination that has been the
foundation for our modern entertainment industry. Work comes from throughout
the world and will challenge and inspire.
LOOKING AT GERMANY
Curated by the Goethe Institut of Boston and featuring some of the best
work out of Germany. From shorts to features, this sidebar is guaranteed
to stir and entertain.
CINEMA CAFÉ
Cutting-edge animation and experimental films are given a special screening
at a relaxed environment. See new works, works in progress and meet
with their creators.
AUSTRALIAN SHORT TRIPS
From Australia we present this sidebar of work that showcases the art
of the short film. Meet the curators who have come from Sydney, find
out what makes a good short and experience a unique view of the world.
PROVIDENCE FILM FESTIVAL
Created as a showcase for local and regional filmmakers, the Providence
Film Festival is now in its fifth year as a RIIFF sidebar. Always a
crowd-pleaser, this event showcases many of the new cinematic talents
who work in New England.
