RHODE
ISLAND INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL TO AGAIN SUBMIT TO
THE GRAMMY AWARDS 2007
DEAR FILMMAKERS,
COMPOSERS & PRODUCERS:
We're here to announce an exciting and unique ongoing
partnership.
Big Noise has
joined forces with the Rhode Island International
Film Festival (RIIFF) to offer once again this
year's filmmakers an opportunity to have their films'
music scores and soundtracks submitted for nomination
consideration with the 2007 Grammy Awards.
Scores and soundtracks will be submitted in all appropriate
categories of the National Academy of Recording
Arts and Sciences' annual Grammy Awards, including
Best Score Soundtrack Album for a Motion Picture,
Best Compilation Soundtrack Album for a Motion Picture,
and Best Song Written for a Motion
Picture. There are 106 categories total that
each soundtrack will be considered for based on how
the score or soundtrack fits each category.
By teaming up with the Rhode Island International
Film Festival, Big Noise anticipates
drawing some of the best music composers and filmmakers
within the industry.
We expect to add another dimension to an already outstanding
festival. Music can make or break a film and we want
to encourage film composers to make their music available
for the world to hear. The Rhode Island International
Film Festival is currently the only film
festival in the
country to have Grammy Awards affiliation, and
we're very proud to be able to offer the festival that
distiction.
Big Noise has over 16 years experience in all
aspects of the music business. Its services run the
gamut from artist development to music promotion and
CD cover design to event planning. Big Noise's
track record with international recording artists
like Christina Aguilera, Billy Gilman, Little Anthony
& The Imperials, and Patti Rothberg, in addition
to its award-winning work with indie recording artists
and projects, led to us being selected three years ago
by the National Academy
of Recording Arts and Sciences as a full voting and
nominating member for The Grammy Awards.
The Rhode Island International Film Festival
has always wanted to integrate music into the
Festival and this will allow them to add another new
Festival Award category, that of Best Composer. Providingfilmmakers
an opportunity to grow and expand professionally, as
well as
network within the industry is a critical part of the
festival's mission.
Last year more than 145 filmmakers came to Rhode Island
to participate in the Rhode Island International
Film Festival, see premiere films and meet
their fellow directors. They have charted the economic
impact this event has for our state and the region.
The Grammy affiliation will only enhance that impact.
Our goal in creating the Grammy Nomination Committee
is to give the Rhode Island International Film Festival
another forum to create additional opportunities for
its participating filmmakers and film composers.
To be eligible for Grammy Awards consideration, filmmakers
are asked to submit a separate CD of their film's score
or soundtrack to the Festival.
Big Noise is pleased to also announce
that we submitted over 25 soundtracks to last year's
2005 Grammy Award committees including the soundtrack
to actor Andrew McCarthy's directorial debut, 'News
For the Church,' which had its premiere right here in
Providence at The Rhode Island International Film Festival,
and received two Official Entries on the Grammy Awards
Ballot in the Best Compilation Soundtrack Album for
a Motion Picture and Best Song Written for a Motion
Picture categories.
