Here’s everything you need to know
Flickers offers an artistic exchange as well as opportunities for the global creative community that are not available in the established entertainment industry.
It is designed to foster contact among film directors, artists, producers, distributors, backers and audiences.
Filmmakers will have an opportunity to share new film product, test-market films in development, and share the film-making process with industry peers, students, and the general public.
Thanks to the strong and visionary support of its lead sponsors, the Festival has been able to expand its offerings and include a broad range of film-related programming such as:
Rhode Island Film Forum
ScriptBiz Workshop
Day-long workshop that takes screenwriters through the entire screenwriting process, with panel discussions on the ins and outs of writing a script and the business aspects of getting a script into production
Youth Film Jury
A secondary jury of high school/college students that are chosen to screen and award the Flickers’ Youth Film Jury Awards
KidsEye™ Summer Filmmaking Camp
An intensive and fun five-day summer camp that exposes young people to the world of filmmaking culminating in a Red Carpet Premiere screening of their finished work at the Rhode Island International Film Festival
Our most notable prizes are the selection of Best Live Action Short (Grand Prize), Best Documentary Short (Grand Prize), and Best Animated Short (Grand Prize) that in turn are eligible for nomination by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
