Internships are available now for the Rhode Island International Film Festival. RIIFF offers internships for the Fall, Spring, and Summer Semesters. The festival is seeking motivated, industrious, self-starting students who care about the community and want to be a part of New England’s largest film festival and its only Academy Award qualifier. These are unpaid internships for academic credit or to supplement any student’s college curriculum.
All internships with the Rhode Island International Film Festival are unpaid. A minimum of 15-20 hours per week is expected, although time commitments vary depending on department.
Applicants should have good communication skills, including research, writing, word-processing, computer, telephoning and basic interviewing.
Interns work closely with the Festival staff on timely and compelling projects, many with a current focus on marketing, event planning, educational programs, technical operations, design, community outreach, even theatre restoration. Students gain excellent first-hand experiences helping an innovative, dynamic Festival serve a burgeoning Capitol City, the New England region, and its varied mix of programs.
Spotlight in the festival
Accepted applicants will become part of the only OSCAR®, BAFTA© and Canadian Screen-qualifying film festival in New England.
Joining the Volunteer team
To ehance their experience and to help them better understand the film festival process, interns will become part of our volunteer team. The intent is for them to experience how the Festival functions from top to bottom.
Networking opportunities
Interns will also meet with visiting filmmakers and become part of the team that will introduce each film program and lead filmmaker Q&A’s.
These internships are ideal for students majoring in Political Science, Business Administration, Communications, Advertising, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, Photography, Hospitality, Computer Science, Web Programming, Accounting, Education, Psychology, Social Sciences, and other related fields. As many as six openings are available during each semester. More in the summer as the festival goes into high gear.
