KidsEye Filmmaking Camp

Now in its 28th year, the KidsEye™ Summer Filmmaking Camp is an intensive and fun five-day summer camp that exposes young people to the world of filmmaking that culminates in a Red Carpet Premiere screening of their finished work at the Rhode Island International Film Festival.

Participants learn the basics of filmmaking through workshops on screenwriting, camera, media literacy, storyboarding, acting, directing, and production. Activities are hands-on and culminate in the production of short films directed by and starring KidsEye participants. For children and teens ages 8 through 17.

Youth Film Jury

As an important part of our annual community outreach and educational programming at Flickers’ Rhode Island International Film Festival, we are pleased to announce an exciting program geared just for you.

The student jury will be made up of a selected group of Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Connecticut (southern New England) high school students who are entering their junior or senior year; though students who have graduated this year are also encouraged to apply. We also welcome college students who have completed at least one year of school. This year, we are encouraging international students and filmmakers to apply.

Participation in the Flickers’ Youth Film Jury provides all-access passes to the Festival and a mentored learning environment. The educational value for each participant accepted into the Youth Jury is equivalent to a scholarship worth $1,200.

Spotlight in the festival
Accepted applicants will become student jurors in the only OSCAR®, BAFTA© and Canadian Screen-qualifying film festival in New England.

Joining the Volunteer team
To ehance their experience and to help them better understand the film festival process, youth jury members will become part of our volunteer team. The intent is for them to experience how the Festival functions from top to bottom.

Networking opportunities
Jury members will also meet with visiting filmmakers and become part of the team that will introduce each film program and lead filmmaker Q&A’s.

Rhode Island Film Forum

Flickers’ Rhode Island International Film Festival (RIIFF) will offer members of the local filmmaking community and visiting filmmakers an opportunity to meet and ask questions of some true stars of the Rhode Island film industry at its RI Film Forum.

Aspiring filmmakers and those already in the business can network with the most prolific filmmakers in the State, find out how to be a part of their movie-making magic, and learn about new aspects of the industry. We also welcome college students who have completed at least one year of school. This year, we are encouraging international students and filmmakers to apply.
