And reap a host of great benefits

filmmakers

From the latest cinematic release by seasoned directors to film work created by aspiring young artists, membership in CinemaRI gives you the opportunity to see that work first.

As the Rhode Island International Film Festival has grown, it has established and nurtured ties with film professionals around the world. In 2008, the Festival received over 3,000 film titles in competition and 191 out of competition. Films came from over 60 countries. Along with work coming from film schools such as USC, UCLA, NYU, Columbia, Florida State, Vancouver, North Carolina, Calgary, Cal Arts, Chapman University, etc., the Festival has also received work from IFC, New Zealand Film Commission, Magnolia Pictures.ThinkFilms, KillerFilms, Disney Animation, HBO, Magic Lamp, Moxie Films, and many many more.

Most people do not realize that about 95% of the Festival is built from the entries and not from material we curate from other festivals. Our goal has long been discovery and providing a platform for new films and filmmakers to be found.

Membership in CinemaRI has a host of benefits, not the least being having the opportunity to pre-screen, judge and and even help select films that will screen during RIIFF--or one of our year-round side-bar events.

During the Film Festival, CinemaRI members save on festival tickets and merchandise. Throughout the year, our members are treated to numerous events and films. This year, our members will attend special advance preview screenings of First Look Films, meet up-and-coming directors, see cutting edge documentary work at the Roving Eye Festival, and explore work from the various niche sidebars we produce.

About the Producer

Flickers is a not-for-profit organization that has created CinemaRI as a membership outreach program dedicated to enriching the cultural landscape of southern New England through the cinematic arts. In addition to producing the Rhode Island International Film Festival, Flickers offers exceptional year-round programming with the Roving Eye Documentary Film Festival, the Golden Jasmine Chinese Film Festival, KidsEye™, Vortex, ScriptBiz, First Look, the Vortex Sci-Fi & Fantasy Film Festival, the RI International Horror Film Festival, the Providence GLBT Festival, the Providence Jewish Film Festival and RIIFF in the Schools.

Flickers relies on the support of our members-and you-to sustain and grow the New England’s premiere, non-profit organization devoted to the Film Arts. More than 65% of our revenues come from membership and ticket sales alone. By joining our membership program, CinemaRI, you'll enjoy great films, all year long, most that are free.

andrewIn years past, our members attended special preview screenings of films like KAREN BLIXEN:OUT OF THIS WORLD narrated by Meryl Strep followed by a Q&A with Danish director, Marcus Mandal, THE BAXTER followed by a Q&A with Michael Showalter, CHAMPION with RIIFF Humanitarian Award honoree, Danny Trejo. The First Look series has provided the opportunity to see countless films long before the general public. CinemaRI members save on festival tickets and receive year-round benefits, as well as receive special offers from local merchants, festival posters, programs and more. Not only do members get to enjoy great member benefits year-round, but your membership dollars assist us in producing the Rhode Island International Film Festival and its related programming.
