FLICKERS: Rhode Island International Film Festival™ is the largest festival in New England, showcasing over 200 cinematic works submitted from over 51 countries, and 32 states in the United States. During the 2012 Festival, there were 28 World and 26 US/North American Premieres. A total of 21 Narrative Features, 48 Feature Documentaries and 157 Short Films were screened. Following months of adjudication and review, Festival films were selected from over 4,717 submissions.

FLICKERS is considered "one of the most exciting new festivals to come along" says Chris Gore in the "Ultimate Film Festival Survival Guide." It is also a qualifying festival for the Short Film Academy Award through its affiliation with the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences. Out of over 7,000 Film Festivals worldwide, only 75 have this affiliation. Flickers is the only festival in New England with this accolade.
