Demetria
Carr is devoted to the Arts and to not-for-profit organizations. She’s the Managing Director at RIIFF where she orchestrates Festival events and participates in marketing and developing community awareness. Her enthusiasm and attention to detail have broadened RIIFF’s visibility and appeal in the local, national, and international independent film communities since 2005. Demetria enjoys mentoring students in the Internship Program to develop a powerful RIIFF team each summer.
Demetria was an integral part of Festival Ballet Providence for 10 years where she sat on the Board of Directors as an active member of the Finance, Marketing, and Fundraising Committees and President of the Ballet’s volunteer force.
Prior to her focus on the arts Demetria worked with Rhode Island Monthly Magazine in Providence and Vegetarian Times in Chicago. She is a class agent and interviewer for Skidmore College where she received a BA. Demetria holds a Master’s of Science from the University of Hawaii, and an MBA from Pepperdine University.
Demetria is an active participant in the RIIFF Marketing Team and serves as a Producer for the annual RIIFF promotional video. Her work in 2008 won her a New England Emmy for excellence in a public relations campaign. She is currently working on both the 7 Day PSA program with Board member, Duncan Putney; and Oscar Night® America, which RIIFF will be hosting,
She represented RIIFF at the Guangzhou International Documentary Film Festival, China (GZ DOC 2009), which ran from December 7 to 11, 2009 where she was a VIP guest speaker
