Walk the Red Carpet. Pose for Paparazzi. Hobnob with members of the film industry. The excitement and glamour of Hollywood are coming to The Graduate Providence Hotel Grand Ballroom, 11 Dorrance Street, Providence, Rhode Island on Oscar Night®, Sunday, March 27, 2022.

 

Residents of New England can experience the thrills and surprises of the 94th Academy Awards® at the (12th Annual) Red Carpet Experience: Providence gala celebrating the 40th Anniversary of the Flickers Arts Collaborative, producers of the annual Rhode Island International Film Festival (RIIFF).

 

The evening kicks off at 5:30 p.m. and will feature live coverage by WLNE ABC6, the event's media sponsor. The Academy Awards start at 8:00 p.m.

 

rce2014The Black Tie (optional) evening in 2022 is chaired by Steven Feinberg, Executive Director of the RI Film and Television Office with RIIFF Advisory Board President, Michael Drywa, Esq.

 

WLNE, ABC6 is the event's media sponsor. The station will once again be providing live coverage for our Red Carpet entrance to the event.

 

Catered dinner provided by the Biltmore Hotel with hors d'oeurves by Ellen Loconto. Stage and Set Design by Event Audio Visual.

 

This year's Specialty Drink TBA . Coffee by Ellen Loconto . Music by Billy Quirk, piano and a few surprises.

 

"Oscar Night is my favorite time of year as we celebrate cinema and the very best crop of motion pictures made by the world's greatest moviemakers," said Steven Feinberg, Honorary Chair.

 

"The stars will be shining as our glamorous guests stroll past the crowd of paparazzi and enter this year's magical Red Carpet Experience. The event will be hosted by our local star reporters from WLNE-ABC 6 and the blockbuster evening will include a welcome reception for this year's Producer Circle Award winners, tasty hors d'oeuvres, specialty drinks, live music, a Hollywood silent auction, a gourmet dinner, delicious desserts, coffee and most importantly, a big screen viewing of the 92nd Annual Academy Awards in the Providence Biltmore Hotel's Grand Ballroom.

 

The elegant event will feature live coverage by ABC6, a Red Carpet Entrance and Reception with Paparazzi, Media interviews, Producer’s Circle Awards, hors d'oeuvres, Imported wines, live music, a sit-down dinner. Gourmet desserts that will please and titillate, an amazing silent auction that will appeal to all lovers of film, a raffle of VIP Passes to RIIFF 2022 at The Vets, swag bags that will definitely surprise and, of course, the screening of the biggest awards ceremony of the year!

Presented to members of the community who have actively worked to support and promote the mission of the Flickers' Rhode Island International Film Festival. These Friends of the Festival have had a significant impact on the growth, evolution and quality of what has become RIIFF as well as the arts and humanities locally, nationally and internationally.

 

GEORGES MELIES SCI-FI, FANTASY AWARD

The Georges Méliès Sci-Fi & Fantasy Award is presented to a filmmaker with a unique and creative vision, reflecting the work of the visionary French illusionist and film director who pioneered many technical and narrative developments in the earliest days of cinema. Méliès films include A Trip to the Moon (1902) and The Impossible Voyage (1904), which both are considered among the most important early fantasy and science fiction films, thus establishing the importance of the genre.

 

DREAMMAKER AWARD

The Dream Maker Award recognizes those who provide incredible service and support of the
local film community and are a voice for advocacy of the film industry."

Funding generated by The Red Carpet Experience: Providence will be used to not only underwrite the Festival’s 26th Season in August, it will support such community outreach and educational programs as the Youth Film Jury, Rhode Island Film Forum; Cine ¡OLÉ!; the Golden Jasmine Chinese Film Festival; the Vortex Sci-Fi Film Festival; the New England Student Film Festival; the Providence LGBTQ Film Festival; the Providence Underground Film Festival; the Roving Eye International Film Festival; the RIIFF Technology Forum; the 7 Day PSA Competition; the KidsEye™ Summer Filmmaking Camp; Flickers North Country Film Festival; ScriptBiz™; the RI International Horror Film Festival; the Flickers North Country Film Festival, the Québec Film Festival and an expanded KidsEye International Film Festival in August with workshops, tutorials and youth screenings.

 

“Many people do not realize that programming created and produced by the Flickers takes place throughout the year,” stated George T. Marshall, Executive Director/CEO. “From specialized screening events to internships, Flickers provides an ongoing opportunity to discover all the elements that compose the cinematic arts.
