Competition Finalists Announced

(November 25, 2011) Congratulations to our four finalists! From here, the scripts will be sent to our industry judges Michael Corrente, Steven Feinberg, Anne Mulhall and Michael Corso, who will evaluate the scripts based on the quality of the writing, the use of Rhode Island as a character in the story and its potential marketability.

We had so many great Rhode Island stories submitted to the competition that it was not easy winnowing the field down to four finalists. All finalists will receive a swag bag of Rhode Island favorites.

The winning script will receive five free pitches to Hollywood studios and producers on VirtualPitchfest.com and a copy of Final Draft 8 screenwriting software. In addition, RI Film & Television Office Executive Director Steven Feinberg will issue a press release to Hollywood announcing the winning script.

The Four Finalists are:

THE ASHES OF ALBION

by Peter D. Spameni (Smithfield, RI) GRAND PRIZE WINNER

THE GARDEN GATE

by Amy Kalif & Jennifer Eaton (Wakefield, RI)

OLD HOSS

by Kevin Faria (Bristol, RI) & Duncan Putney (Providence, RI)

ULTRA LIGHT

by David Eliet (Pawtucket, RI)

The Rhode Island Film & Television Office and FLICKERS wishes to thank all those who entered scripts into this first year of the Spotlight on Rhode Island Screenplay Competition. We will continue to help create opportunities for the creative spark that feeds the film industry.
