Volunteer Voucher Policy for 2009

Things You Should Know....

For every two hours that you volunteer, you receive a voucher that can be redeemed for a festival movie ticket. Vouchers are redeemable for regular festival films. You will have to purchase a separate ticket if you wish to attend a gala, forum, or special event.

Five vouchers may also be redeemed for Cinema Rhode Island membership, a $50 value. Cinema Rhode Island membership entitles you to discounts on future RIIFF tickets, passes to advance screenings, and more.

PICKING UP VOUCHERS:
Pick up your vouchers at the RIIFF Office after working your volunteer shift.

REDEEMING VOUCHERS:

Volunteer vouchers are redeemed at the RIIFF Box Offices. To redeem vouchers, fill out a ticket order form at the box office, and present the form and voucher to the cashier. One voucher gets you a ticket for one film. Note that vouchers are transferable. However, the sale of RIIFF vouchers is strictly prohibited.

THE THREE-DAY RULE:
Vouchers may not be redeemed for tickets more than three days in advance of a particular screening. This is to prevent any one person from using their vouchers to monopolize all of the seats allocated for volunteers.

DAY OF SHOW:
It’s a good idea to redeem your vouchers as soon as you can, consistent with the three-day rule, because vouchers cannot be redeemed at the box office on the day of show. Instead, you must wait in the rush line outside the venue where your film is playing. Your voucher will act as your rush ticket. Day of show seating is contingent on availability, with priority given to pass holders and paying customers. If a screening is sold out, you will not be able to redeem your voucher for that show. If you have questions about day of show seating, ask a Venue Manager on site for information.

VOUCHER EXPIRATION:

Vouchers earned during RIIFF 2009 will expire at the end of RIIFF 2010. We are unable to replace lost vouchers, so treat them like cash.

All vouchers earned during the 2009 Rhode Island International Film Festival must be picked up by Friday, August 21, 2009. Any vouchers earned during this year’s festival that are not claimed by that date will be forfeited.
