Multi-platinum
recording artist Billy Gilman will
appear and World Premiere his latest video, 'Hey Little
Suzie (The Cause of All That)' along with an all-new
documentary on Opening Night, Tuesday, August 9th, 7:00
pm at The Columbus Theatre.
Director Cherry Arnold's long awaited documentary on
former Providence Mayor Vincent A Cianci, "Buddy"
has its World Premiere on Thursday, August 11th. Actor

"The Baxter" written, directed
and starring Michael Showalter ("The Daily Show,"
"Stella," "Late Friday") premieres
on Friday, August 12th at 9:15 pm. Welcome the director
who will receive our Crystal Vision Award for first-time
director.
"Holy Water Gate" appeared
at RIIFF two years ago as a work in progress. See the
finished film on Saturday, August 13th at 12:00 Noon
with a panel discussion. •

The Festival’s August 14th closing night
attraction will be “The Black Pirate,”
a silent feature made in 1926 and starring Douglas Fairbanks.
It is a fitting program for the Columbus, which opened
its doors that very year and will be accompanied live
by an original score composed and performed by the noted
Alloy Orchestra. Preceding the silent classic will be
the presentation of restored fragments of “My
Lady of the Lilacs,” a recently rediscovered silent
film made in Rhode Island in 1916 and written by pioneering
female screenwriter Beta Breuil.

ScriptBiz, a screenwriting pitch program
will launch on Monday, August 8th and continues through
August 9th.
Exhibition and display of 9 years of the Rhode
Island International Film Festival, funded by the RI
Commission for the Humanities; Courthouse Center of
the Arts, Kingston, RI
Introduction of new regional student
film competition and screening: the New England Student
Film Festival. Programming to take place Saturday, August
13th.
"100 Pieds" presented in
collaboration with Spirafilm of Québec City:
10 short newly commissioned silent films with live accompaniment
that is improvised by local musicians (a collaborative
project with Spirafilm and the Pan American International
Film Festival.)
Between Takes Coffee Talks will be held weekday
afternoons at 3:00 pm
at Jessie's on Atwells Avenue with industry professionals.
